The dawn of Dermacol

The Dermacol brand launched more than 50 years ago in the Barrandov Film Studios. Soon, film studio experts teamed up with dermatologists from the Medical Cosmetics Institute in Prague. The aim was to create a covering foundation in order to help common people with skin imperfections. The beautician Mrs. Olga Knoblochová was with the brand from the very beginning.

“At a dermatologic congress held in Hight Tatras (Slovakia), I was demonstrating how to cover a large nevus on the face of a 20-year old medical student. The student saw herself in the mirror without her skin defect for the first time in her life, and she was so touched that she bursted into tears.” Recalls Mrs. Knoblochová, ever since known as Lady Dermacol.

Make - up in Hollywood

Dermacol Make-up Cover, one of the first foundations in the world, has become the best assistant of female beauty all over Europe. This year, the license is sold to film studios in Hollywood. The beauty of many film stars has had its origins from Dermacol in Prague.

Skin care cosmetics

The range of Dermacol products is expanding. In the category of skin creams, the Lady Cream and the Princess Cream will start writing the history. Both creams are still popular even today.

Dermacol in every handbag

What is in my bag? In 1972 in the former Czechoslovakia, this would be the usual content. Dermacol has been then producing not only skin care products but also compact powder eye shadows.

Dermacol ´s independance

Dermacol brand separated from the Film studios Barrandov. However, the brand cosmetics were produced in the studios for the next eleven years.

The beginning of successes on foreign markets

Dermacol’s fame has been increasingly spreading beyond the borders of the Czech Republic and the brand has also been becoming more and more popular with customers in the countries of the Near East. The first country in which Dermacol’s worldwide export boom began was Jordan.

New era of Dermacol brand

The Dermacol brand is taken over by Věra and Vladimír Komár. The brand becomes a proud Czech family business and a symbol of famous Czech women.

Production in Brno

The production of Dermacol transferred to a factory in Brno where they produce the traditional as well as new foundations and creams for more than ten years. There are 150 employees in the factory.

Dermacol in Asia

The quality, European origins and the uniqueness of our cornerstone, Dermacol Make-Up Cover, are the main factors that make Czech Dermacol appreciated far away in Asia. Since 2010, when we first entered the Asian market in South Korea, Dermacol has won over fans in other countries including China, Vietnam, Taiwan and others.

Dermacol on the African continent

Not long after entering the Asian market, Dermacol established itself on the African continent. The first countries in which Dermacol became an essential part of every cosmetics bag were Libya and Sudan. Since then, Dermacol has become popular in other African counties, including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Namibia.

e opened the first Dermacol experience stores in Prague and a beauty salon. The Dermacol experiential store presents a huge color range of nail polishes, eye shadows, glosses, lipsticks and make-up and a whole portfolio of skin and body care products.

Dermacol in South America

The first women on the South American continent to enhance their natural beauty with Dermacol Make-Up Cover were from Paraguay. Since then, Make-Up Cover and other cosmetics products have found their way into the cosmetics bags of women, not only in Paraguay, but also in Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.

Spectacular 50th anniversary celebrations

The traditional Czech cosmetics brand Dermacol has been in business for over 50 years. A magnificent celebration of the golden anniversary was hosted by three generations of Czech families, which through their innovative ideas, fulfil the desires of women of all ages. Dermacol celebrated its 50th anniversary with a beautiful present – successful expansion into the US market.

Expansion continues

Today, you can find Dermacol, the most successful Czech brand, in more than 60 countries worldwide. Among the strongest export markets are: Poland, the USA., Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, China, Kazakhstan, Paraguay, and other countries around the world.
